Celebrating 40 Years of Success: Horizon Transport’s Driver Appreciation Day
On Saturday, June 1st, Horizon Transport celebrated a significant milestone: its 40th anniversary. Approximately 1,000 individuals, including 800-900 drivers, gathered at the RV/MH Hall of Fame Event Center in Elkhart, Ind., for the company’s annual Driver’s Appreciation Day. It was a day filled with camaraderie, recognition, and appreciation for the hardworking individuals who have contributed to Horizon’s success over the past four decades.
As drivers arrived, they were greeted with warm smiles and loaded down with logo items and swag bags—a small token of gratitude for their dedication and commitment. The morning kicked off with opportunities for mingling, visiting vendors, and exploring the museum. Additionally, there were informative sessions covering topics such as taxes, financial management, and tips for running a successful business—all aimed at empowering drivers to thrive in their careers.
Horizon’s Executive Vice President, Andy Cripe, and Safety Instructor, Randy Torrence, shared valuable insights and advice with attendees, emphasizing the importance of financial planning, time management, and embracing change and technology. Cripe reminded drivers that they are their brand and encouraged them to prioritize their reputation above all else.
Throughout the day, there were plenty of door prizes up for grabs, but the highlight was undoubtedly the chance to win a 2024 Ford F350 truck. As drivers eagerly awaited the prize drawing, the excitement was palpable. While many drivers were hopeful, only one lucky individual would drive away with the coveted truck.
Among the attendees were seasoned drivers who have been with Horizon for years, each sharing their unique experiences and appreciation for the company. Linda McMahon, who has been driving for Horizon for eight years, expressed her loyalty and admiration, stating, “If it works, why change? I love Horizon—I’m one of their biggest fans.”
Similarly, Tonya Matthews, a three-year veteran of Horizon, praised the company’s exceptional treatment of its drivers, highlighting the supportive and caring culture that sets Horizon apart.
As lunch was served, drivers were recognized for their outstanding achievements, including milestones such as one million miles and, for the first time in company history, two million miles. Mark Hall was celebrated as the inaugural two-million-mile driver—an extraordinary accomplishment that speaks to Horizon’s commitment to excellence.
Additionally, 50 drivers were inducted into the Hall of Fame, honoring their dedication and contributions to the company. And finally, the moment everyone had been waiting for arrived—the announcement of the truck winner. Loyd Drinkhorn, Jr. was the fortunate recipient of the 2024 Ford F350, marking a memorable conclusion to an unforgettable day of celebration.
As Horizon looks back on 40 years of success, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to our drivers, employees, and partners who have been instrumental in our journey. Together, we look forward to the road ahead, filled with new adventures, challenges, and opportunities. Thank you for your continued dedication and commitment to Horizon Transport. Cheers to the next 40 years of success!
